Time For Soup
There is no better time for soup than on a brisk winter day! Always a favorite and easy meal. In this class you’ll learn to stock a pantry so a pot may be put together tout suite! Chicken with Sage and Cannellini Beans, Cauliflower-Parsnip Soup with Walnuts and Tuscan Farro with Lentils and Arugula. To round out the meals, delicious homemade breads and savory muffins. Soup’s On!

A Blustery Day Brunch
Entertain with Brunch! Freshen up your style with a hearty meal of Poached Eggs on Cheesy Grits, Lacquered Bacon, Bruleed Winter Fruits and Cinnamon Roll Ebelskiver. Mix up a batch of your famous bloody marys and the party is on! And by the way, who says this can’t be dinner?

Peak Season: Citrus
Citrus fruits are at their peak and nothing is better than their sweet brightness a dull winter day. Tour the grove, expand your knowledge and palate. Kumquat-Ginger Preserve with Soft Cheese, Citrus Pickled Shrimp, Grilled Pink Grapefruit and Pork Skewers over Herbed Quinoa. Candied Citrus Peel atop Fresh Ginger Ice Cream is a delightful finish.

Grocery Store Game Plan – The Shopping
It’s tough to put meals on the table without basic food shopping knowledge. I’ll share tips for negotiating grocery stores, large and small. Fill your cart with working knowledge of pantry essentials, how to find quality and getting in and out – FAST. Enjoy a chauffeured trip, personalize tour and nourish-ing snacks. Seats are limited and sure to fill quickly.

A Grocery Store Game Plan – The Cooking
Hey, Moms! Learn the art of meal planning with seasonal foods and how to get dinner on the table before you collapse. Create cohesive meal plans, prep-ahead tips and piggy back meals. Bag recipes for Pantry Pastas, Budget-Friendly Meatless Meals and Make-Ahead Masterpieces! Get back to the table and out of the drive-thru.

T.V. Dinners – 2012
While not a fan of the classic TV dinner, I admit to fond childhood memories of the thrill of a special dinner and a baby sitter. Just for fun, I updated classic menus with whole and nutritious foods. Oven-Baked Chicken Strips, Caramelized Onion Salisbury Steak, Mashed Potatoes and Parsnips, Pan-Fried Succotash and Molten Java Brownies. Then, stay up late and watch The Ed Sullivan Show.

Winter Into Spring Preservation Workshop
The flavors of winter are worth saving! Make menus special with Pear, Clementine and Pecan Conserve and Sauerkraut. Brighten your breakfast with Meyer Lemon Herb Jelly and Cinnamon-Carrot Jam. Don’t wait until summer to learn the art of preserving. Warm the kitchen on a chilly day and be ready to go in July! Class will include basic fermentation, jam/jelly making and water bath canning.

A Trip to Chicago’s Green City Market
Join me for this wonderful year round market held in the Peggy Notebaert Museum. Visit local producers of micro greens, specialty products, fruit, cheese, meats and baked goods. Trip includes transportation, a breakfast treat and a special gift. Lunch is on your own.
